Appearances can be misleading, and that is exactly what this American Biker Gang has proved. Thus, one should never judge a book by its cover.

Meet Rescue Ink, a gang of tattooed bike riders that spend their time rescuing animals from violent owners. Named after their love for tattoos, this gang had been on the streets since 2008. Their goal was to rid the world of animal cruelty and to crack down on dogfighting rings.

The group described themselves as ‘animal lovers’ who use their rough appearances to intimidate perpetrators and rescue countless animals in need.

The group may look like dangerous outlaws roaming the streets for trouble. But in reality, they are very gentle at heart and operated legally in Long Island.

Their leader Joe Panzarella told PEOPLE, We’re glad for all of the attention it’s bringing to our cause. It promotes awareness of animal abuse and neglect, and that we’re here to advocate and educate.”

Rescue Ink raised a lot of awareness regarding the problems of animal abuse. Their actions caused a lot of people to come forward and report any kind of animal activity.

Their website described their mission statement perfectly. It stated, “Some people like to think of us as superheroes. The truth is, we are super animal lovers (and protectors). Through the years, and through many caseloads, obstacles, and downright challenges, we remain strong and dedicated to our mission.”

Rescue Ink’s group members included Joe Panz, Big Ant, Johnny O, Eric, G, Angel, Des “the cat man” Junior, Robert and Batso.

In an interview for The New York Times, the bikers said that their situations are always different. Saying, “Some people sold purebred dogs just because they needed money for drugs, other people organized dog fights, and some even tried to poison a group of homeless cats not far from their house. Once, they had a report about a serial cat killer from Pennsylvania”

Furthermore, their group even had their own National Geographic show called ‘Rescue Ink Unleashed’.

However, the American Biker Gang has been disbanded since 2011. Their efforts have saved countless animals from harm and a bad life.

What an incredible group of people!
